Baptism of Silence

A poem about wanting peace and quiet

To be left alone is all I desire
To hear nothing and feel completely at peace
To end the tedium of everyday life
For all the hustle and bustle to cease

A place to escape is all I require
A slice of heaven I wish to find
To immerse myself totally in silence
A baptism of the purest kind

A haven for meditation would be ideal
A blank canvas with no distractions
Away from the humming and buzzing of life
Away from all gas-guzzling contraptions

To think that my haven fails to exist
Fills me with a sensation of dread
Pausing for thought I sigh with relief
Realising it's here in my head!
