Words.

The uncertainty of conspicuous thoughts
Unspoken words, criticizing my every move

The harshness of words said out loud
Words and thoughts that spread from one person to the next
Passing by unnoticed by me
Because they stay quiet
Choose when to give away their hurtful secret

Choose the wrong moment
Bringing me down with them as they fall from the lips of their carrier
Words of powerful consequences
Who hurt me and take away my innocence
Scarring my soul, leaving marks upon my body

But it is in their constant secretive movements and distant thoughts that they pain the most
Because they scare me, terrify me
They make me feel defenseless
Because I cannot defend myself against the unknown
I cannot know what to expect
