A New Chapter

This poem speaks of looking forward to a new love at the close of an old relationship.

A New Chapter

Chapter complete, turn the page
What adventures await me now?
A handsome prince galloping to the rescue?
A bevy of toads to kiss?

Well, I don't need rescuing
I did that myself, thank you very much!
Kisses sound grand
But toads...puleeeez!!

A kindred spirit
Crazy, but kind
Passionate about life and me
This is my quest

What will I find when I turn the page?
A jungle filled with danger?
A barren desert?
A partner...ready to explore this new chapter with me?

The latter, please God
Someone with whom to share my adventures
Someone to hold and love
Someone to love me in return

I'm not very patient
I hope this is not a test to try that limited resource
I am happier now than I've been in ages
Yet, there is a void within

Let this next chapter hold the key
To fill the void
Not prince or toad
But a man...open and honest

A man with spunk
A zest for life and all it brings
A man with whom to share
My hopes and dreams
Passions and peculiarities
Conversation and commitment...my life
