What is a friend?

         A friend is like a visitor who never goes away,
But does not impulse on you.
Or seem to overstay.
They bring a smile and they become
A most important past,
Of all the plans, hopes, and dreams
That fill your mind and head.
They offer you suggestions
And the help that they can give,
Without attempting to disturb
The way you want to live.

         A friend is like a brother
Who is always on your side.
Who speaks of your accomplishments
With pleasure and with pride.
Who only wants your friendship,
And sympathizes when you grieve.
And always understands
The way you want to breathe.
