Flowers reflecting differing images of freedom |
| A pure, white lily floats on a serene lake, anchored to the mud far beneath. Rose petals, cast on the ocean carrying memories, bear their burdens and give in to the rising and falling swells. A dandelion's seed on a wisp of cotton flies where the wind's current takes it. Silk flowers escape from wilting. A bouquet is clutched in the hand of a bride; baby's breath is bound in her hair. Orchids hover suspended, disdaining the earth that calls for them, breathing the mist in the air. Sipping from a glass, a rose adorns the table as a lady of leisure. Blossoms drift to the ground, released from service. I consider the lilies of the field. |
