Poem I put a lot of heart into. About a guy who completely shattered my heart.
Pull out the words buried deep
From past my wall to which they keep
Reach even further and you will find
The wrenching pain that’s left behind
The change inside me must be clear
The violent shift of miserable drear
I feel the look upon my face
Has become more distinct for one to place
The obvious turn toward numbing dread
To where I have fallen and lost my head
My mind is swimming in circles it seems
No aid to my confusion, the unavailing dreams
Such a rude awakening it does ensue
To wake up, and find all this mess to be true
To feel it unfold before my rested eyes
Hell is here again, all of those dreams were lies
Thrown back into the spinning
Chasing and chasing, with nobody winning
Tossed back into confusion
Hanging on every touch, each kiss a delusion
Knocked back to my start
A slave to my own pumping heart
Reaching desperately for something
Because without you, I fear I’ll become nothing
Falling over and over
Feeling closer and closer
I’m twisting and turning
I’m winding and burning
I’m bleeding inside
To your words, I must abide
You won’t fall again
But I’ll try to my end
I’m not giving up on you
That’s something I could never do
Even if I do move on, in time
You’ll always be resting in the back of my mind
And even if I do fall for someone again
It won’t even be a trace of what we would have been
And even if I do return to the start
I know there’s no way I could steal back my heart
