how to chose that special card!
COUNT: 417 words

Valentine’s day is an excellent time to express special feelings for a loved one or good friend. The tradition of observing Valentine’s Day with an expression of emotion in a Valentine’s Day card is a simple-but-effective way of showing feelings. That tradition often begins at a young age with the exchange of youthful valentine’s day greetings with family or school friends. As life progresses, we often want to express our feelings as adults on Valentine’s day with cards, gifts and special outings. The choice of greetings and sentiments becomes more complex as we mature and discover that we possess a wider range of emotions that we never considered as children. The Valetine’s Day card is one of the simplest tokens that can be used to express those feelings. Valentine’s Day cards are widely available with friendship-oriented wording, with romantic text and pictures, and with humorous messages and graphics designed to delight and amuse.
The choice of the picture and sentiment in a Valentine’s Day card can and should reflect the type of relationship being honored by the giving of the card. The choice of the proper card can express the depths of feeling the giver has for the recipient Cards expressing friendship or love can generally be found with either serious or light-hearted messages. However, the giver should be carerful about the message the Valentine’s Day card delivers; if care is not taken in selection, the recipient may become embarrassed, offended, baffled or hurt if the meaning conveyed by the card does not fit within the expectations and assumptions of that recipient. Extra care should be taken especially with humorous Valentine’s Day cards as they can often be misconstrued by an insecure recipient.
One way of avoiding awkwardness when presenting a romantic sentiment in a Valentine’s Day card is for the giver of the card to write the heartfelt sentiment directly on the card, thereby personalizing the card. That may be done either by adding a note to a pre-designed Valentine’s Day card, or buying a blank card and expressing the sentiment in an original way on that card.
Using a Valentine’s Day card as a means of expressing to your partner or friend how much they mean to you is an excellent way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! By taking care with your selection of Valentine’s Day cards, gifts and activities, you can ensure that the day will be extra-special for you and yours!
