in memory of Ray
the sun burned bright
across the valley
we beheld
a majesty of brilliant light
and marveled
as it twinkled on the mountaintop
and iridescent colors
faded
into the west

you were gone

with nimble grace
along a path
unfettered by bones
where air flows
pure

Your phone vibrates
with unanswered calls and texts...
and a picture to show you
the baby is now walking.
Your watch,
a half pack of smokes,
and an unfinished rhyme
are among the things
you left behind.

I gaze
into the silence

my love
wrapped around
an unsung lullabye

forever in my heart Obleo
