DAD

I wrote this to my dad just before he passed away.

                                                                    DAD





                                      We were apart for many years,

                                      We were apart by many miles,

                                      The miles and years denied us,

                                  The everyday pleasures other families had,

                                        Which those families took for granted.





                                      The years and miles which separated us,

                                        Gave us more than those families

                                        Who took everyday pleasures for granted.





                                      Those years and miles gave us a special

                              Closeness abd friendship we might not have

                              Had we been one of those families that

                                Took everyday pleasures for granted.





                                  This daughter will always cherish those years and miles

                                  For they showed her that no matter what

                                  Comes between a parent and child,

                                    There will always be a bond that

                                  Those years and miles will never break.



                                    Those families that took everyday pleasures for granted

                                          Will never have what I have

                                    A father who loves me unconditionally

                                      Regardless of those years and miles
