A poem about the decision to fall.
Standing on the edge of a cliff.
Eyes shut tight.
Pretending I'm not here.
Somewhere else.
Somewhere else.
Somewhere else.
Where everything feels good,
very good.
Nothing hurts.
My knees,
impossible to scrape.
In this place.
Eventually, though,
eyes will open.
Wide they stare,
down the edge of the cliff.
I'm afraid to fall.
But I want to.
Just to see how it feels, just to see if I can forget the pain.
Just out of curiosity, I fall.
It feels right, falling.
But the farther I fall,
the closer I am to the crash.
Its a risk I'm willing to take.
