Lonely



So lonely
So tired of being alone
All my life alone

I do not begrudge
Others their happiness
I do not envy
I only wish

I hide the tears
I do not want pity
I just want to belong

Where the family
Where the happiness
Where the holidays
Spent together

I set the table for one
I read alone
Alone I watch tv

Off they go
To dinner
To movies
To gatherings

I wait
I pray
Beseeching

I turn off the lights
Turn down the covers
Alone in cold covers
I hope to dream
