A satirical look at vacations at the beach.
Beach Coma

Beach cottage weather
without the cabin fever,
can be a walk in the park
Or obligations to follow the matriarch, the patriarch;

searching for something in mind,
not knowing what you will find;
just certain, what you have,
can be better, and what you want
becomes clearer,
as the waves lap,
sand imprints memories to follow;

Ah! That wind!
classified as sin,
mocks bathers, and breakers of weekend homers,
whose minds rest assured they have to be roamers
without stuff they encountered the day before:
this well earned rest and peace,
with scrambled eggs if you please,

platitudes can pass
as the truth, and youth, a thing of the past,
is with us all the time, but some
born again not as Nicodemus supposed,
regenerate, supplicate, and serve time
with numb, nonchalant, dumb, petulant,
thoughts to raise odds
the drive was not a loss,

rest was the goal,
on the whole,
it was simply the change, the company, the venture,
a debenture of quick returns from the wasteland
ferry of organized daytimes, scheduled pantomimes,
and lucid moments, candour exponents, with more
components than a robot mine detector, defector
from realities, cavities and gaps, a field trip
to ward off intruders, while the looters stay home and trip.
