Can this be?

A poem about the wonder of the Cross

Can this be good news for me -
When I'm condemned deservedly?
Can it be that I'm set free -
That Someone has paid the price for me?

Yes, it's true, a new start is won
If I believe in God's own Son,
Who takes away the sins of all -
Transgressions unspeakable and small.

On that cross of Calvary
Jesus died for you and me
Suffered pain and indignity
Because he wanted to set us free.

Isn't that incredible news
That the Son of God should choose
To come to my rescue -
To do what I just couldn't do?

Thank you Jesus for your love amazing,
Thank you for your death and raising,
Thank you for being my Friend,
With your help my ways I'll mend.
