The many things that are experienced in Vegas.
The Mammon Land
I peer around admiring the busy streets with cars coming to this diamond in the rough in a place of hot sand. Through dollars and lost wages of the foolish dreamers who wish fortune in this deceitful land.
Neon lights flash and shine with many colors that adorn the buildings that dazzle and seduce the travelers.
The heat of the day does not detour those fools who fall victim to the money handlers.
Roadrunners and scorpions fill the undefiled spaces.
That will soon become home to casinos, and living places.
As I walk along the grounds of untouched nature.
I find something that gives me passing pleasure.
Cacti, joshua trees, weeds, and sage brush.
It's all meet for me but for others it's not enough.
An famous city to people around the globe.
An illusion of quick prosperity but a lie to those who know.
Seasons change and in comes the pouring rains.
Watering the tilled roofs and the parched sand grains
Nothing so refreshing as the smell of moist air.
Nothing like dark clouds that hover and catch my stare.
I watch them through the trees and the shadowed moon.
It shines like a guardian as it defends and sails.
But in the city lights it's own light is veiled.
