Song from the late sixties, love, sucide, Vincent VanGogh, Starry, Starry Night, feelings
This song was done by
Don Mcclen in the late sixties I think. I get most of my lyrics when I post them by looking them up on the internet. I think this is the first time I have placed the actual lyrics to the song on my folder of music. I have reviewed others but these lyrics have always meant so much to me. When I shared them with my daughter she said, "Sheer poetry and was so very impressed with the words and music that I listen to in my day.
The song hurts me deep inside because no one seems to listen to Vincent. He hurts so much inside and doesn't feel people take him serious as an artist; I think a lot of writers can understand where he was coming from. The pain is so bad and isn't it ashame that he doesn't become an artist until after his death.
I find a lot of people I know who have taken their own lives just wanted someone to listen to them and others of us just didn't know how. It's those who are closest to us who we are least able to help.
Thanks for listening.
By the way I was so moved after writing this I took a piece of material and sandwiched it with quiliting material. I sewed a silver moon, with two white stars, and added waves of material of different kinds on the bottom. Took my machine and sewed white/silver swirls. I relived one of my favorite songs once again.

Vincent (Starry Starry Night) Lyrics

Starry starry night, paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills, sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills, in colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for you sanity How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they did not know how, perhaps they'll listen now

Starry starry night, flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue, morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

Chorus:
For they could not love you, but still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight, on that starry starry night
You took your life as lovers often do,
But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Starry, starry night, portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met, the ragged man in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose, lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for you sanity How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will.Best matches for lyrics to the song Vincent by Don Mclean
