The comparison is age old, but this is my take...
The ocean provides us a mirror to life,
we are drawn to horizons where questions wait.
The power of the unknown diminishes the storms,
pushing us inexorably to answer our fate.

The vessel is irrelevant that carries us there,
no matter the size, wild horses have no fear.
Sometimes mercury-smooth it can lull us to sleep,
then mountainous liquid where dreams disappear.

The Gods left us signposts sprinkled above,
illumination to guide us through the darkest nights.
We must trust in our vision in the heat of the day,
and keep our hearts strong for the inevitable fight.

There is no law which governs how far we can go,
our imagination is limitless, our dreams sky high.
We can change our direction but the world doesn't wait,
it revolves underneath us, it is we who must try.

Life is everywhere around us in both water and air,
It suckles the sun, this worlds symbiotic friend.
We must travel this journey with open minds,
with our soul, our lighthouse, our guide to the end.
