Mid May with April characteristics
| Mother Nature in New England
May opens itchy eyes, another day of rain.
April left it all behind, when she claimed her fame.
Flowers bursting open, green grass is on the grow
If only rain would stop, and let warm breezes blow.
Pools of puddles line streets, where worms try to survive.
Sunshine late this year, delayed in coming alive.
Boughs of lilacs heavy, trying to raise their heads.
Wetness keeps them bowing all due to this wet dread.
Azaleas though colorful; need to feel sun's ryes,
In order for buds to hold on a few more days.
Lawns keep right on flourishing, blades just taking wing.
Sparrows hiding in tree, still managing to sing.
Blinding sheets of wetness, then stop and starts to slow.
Hoping for better weather, we just never know.
Season of surprises, brings a different tune.
It Makes one stop and wonder, what will be in June.
Mother Nature’s fickle, has shown us all this year.
Changed her mind a dozen times, making it quite clear.
She has the final word and we must preserver.
In her way, brighten the day, happens every year.
