I hope this letter finds you safe and sound.

We think of you back home and wish you were here with us.

Many of us have our flag hanging outside our homes waiting for your return.

It’s not the same without you here to share a smile or two.

It’s hard to explain how necessary I feel this letter is from me to you.

You must always remember you are forever on our minds and deeply held in our hearts.

I pray for you every night and hope you think of me.

A caring stranger but one who loves you for making us free.

May God hold you tight tonight

May He make you feel secure

Even on the loneliest nights

I send my warmth of spirit to you
