MY THOUGHTS DRIFT

This is a recent piece that I wrote in on my iphone while waiting for a breakup in the car

My thoughts drift to a place

My memories of a special time

When I was oblivious to your lies

And I believed you were mine



I will never understand

How it was so easy to be cruel

When all I ever did was love you

I was such a fool



My heart and spirit are broken

Nothing left but an empty shell

You destroyed my faith in love

With all of your lies and betrayal



Your lies are going to catch up one day

And you will regret this deceit

Saying you love someone when you don't

Makes heaven a lesser guarantee



My eyes were closed but now are open

I was blind to your evil deceptive plan

The lies you skillfully masked then

Are now out in the open
