The fourth commandment.

Keep Holy

the Sabbath.

Is it just a day,
that a flower grows?

Or does it spring
from a warming earth

and stretch itself
to the open sky

just a little at a time,
'till it opens

it's gift of beauty?

The Sabbath!

Does Christmas
come in December?

Or do we remember,
as He asked us,

throughout this
crazy long year,

with bread and wine,
to open our hearts

with the gift of giving--

the Sabbath?

Before it was a day
for convenience,

so we'd know when
to pray together,

it was a prayer--
a connection,

a commanding gift:
the Sabbath!
