On depression
he used to paint for her

yellow daisy eyes
white petals open wide
to spring sun

cool blue water
fringed with wild grasses
clinging to summer green

rich red carpets
and thick embroidered curtains
to close out the cold

gold glowing coals
going out

now he watercolors
with brush rinsings
sludge gray

if only she could bleed
another color
for his palette
