A free verse poem about the overtaking of another man's land |
| Nation upon nation King upon king Each desirous of another mans land Wars ignited for the gluttony of the rulers right hand To seek and to surge To purge and devour Never pleased, never is he satisfied Until all would be his What is gaining all? What is left to be sought? Riches, power, fame? But no, nothing left to be sought For all is his Nothing is he without So, in having all, he has lost all All reason and drive, all ambition and love What good is it then, to desire another man's land? But rather is it good to desire one's own land The riches upon the plains The power from within The fame from his own For in his own land is land yet to be discovered A people yet to be adored |
