When you were you

"When you were you"



Will you take me with you

To a place I no longer can see,

When you were you

And I was me.



Where we first held hands,

Where we walked barefoot on wet sands,

When you had no regrets

When age and grey hair did not appear to you as threats..



When we both were undefeated by destiny

When we both laughed on things not funny,

When you heard things I did not say

When we were together, night & day.



When we saw sunset through each others' eyes,

When each sunrise cemented our ties,

When we took vows never to forget,

When you had still not learnt to regret.



When On bent knees I asked your hand,

When you just refused to understand,

When fate took you away from me,

When you could have stayed, but chose to flee.



Oh please, take me back to that sunset lost near the sea..

Where I was you and you were me...
