A Soldiers Day

life of a soldier

you wake from the sound

and jump from your cot

your heart begins to pound

a second is all you got



with two hours of sleep

you run from your tent

your sanity you try to keep

as the bombs are sent



you get through that days battle

but the war is far from over

in your mind the sights rattle

you constantly look over your shoulder



you make a call home

to talk to loved ones

30 minutes on the phone

because in line are tons



you say goodbye

followed with i love you

and a hurtful sigh

how hard this is they have no clue...



you lay down

for a sleepless night

in your thoughts you drown

just like lastnight



you awake again the same way

but your closer to home each and every day.....
