Written for a childhood friend after she searched me out on FB and sent a friend request
When I was still a little boy
The highlight of each day,
Was when you knocked upon my door
Asking, “Can Tim come out and play?”

For us, time had no measure
As the seasons slipped on by.
We spent near every day together
Playing 'neath an endless sky.

Our youthful dreams were shattered
When you came teary-eyed one day.
With trembling lips you told me
You were moving far away.

Fate brought us back together once
When we were starting life anew.
We had no way of knowing then
I'd soon move far away from you.

For years our paths were distant
Yet we were never far apart,
No matter where life took me
I held you closely in my heart.

Then, all these long years later,
There came this joyful day-
You knocked once more, upon my door
Asking... “Can Tim come out and play?”
