I want a vampire boyfriend.
A brooding vampire
That's what I want
But not a sparkling Edward
I want an Angel
I want a Louis
I want to fuck Spike
and listen to his poetry

I want to hear tales of
lost loves over the centuries
I want him to sing to me about
his "death" in monodic melodies

In the mornings I want to lie
on my floor knowing
he's buried in the dirt below me

When dusk hits I'll count
the seconds it takes him
to be beside me

I'll sip wine as he's on his knees
tasting life from my wrist
I'll touch my lips to his
and taste my blood in his kiss

we'll stroll under the moonlight
and he'll laugh at my misguided notions
of the history he lived to see
he'll open his pocket watch and note it's nearly 3

he'll close his eyes and I'll see the sadness
I've come to adore
My brooding vampire boyfriend
My heart, mon amour

The time growing short
soon we'll pause our devotion
he to the earth
me to my aching emotion

he'll scoop me up in his arms
our nightly ritual
he'll spring to the rooftops
and whisper: love, I'll miss you

To my brooding vampire I'll say:
still my heart, stop its beating
he'll answer: be still, my heart
this thought is fleeting

no, it's not, I'll say
I mean it, end me
he'll smile his sad smile
and tell me it's my life
that makes him happy

there we'll stand
both drowning in misery
until my dying breath
I'll beg him for eternity
