Demonstrating comma rules that I have learned in Comma Sense Class.

I NEED TO REVISE THIS!

I don't remember the exact date, but the year was 2004. My Son Andrew's girlfriend ,Eileen, was living with us at the time and she kept begging me to let her bring her dog,Frankie,to live with us. I didn't want any pets. I strongly disliked dogs.

I told her,"I am sorry, Eileen, No dogs! I don't like them and they don't like me."

"Just give him a chance, Mom.You will love him!"

"No, Eileen, No dogs!"

Little did I know that she was pondering on a plan so that I would give Frankie a chance, but fate would take over and win.

I slept during the day while my children were in school because I worked the graveyard shift 11 p.m to 7a.m at Riddle hospital. I was a telecommunications operator. I loved my job! I was so happy working there. I was paid well for what I did and I was good at it too. I was able to provide for myself and my children. I felt so complete. I loved the feeling I used to get when I was able to give my children the things they needed without having to tell them "No, I am sorry we can't afford that right now."

Eileen, knew my sleeping schedule,so about a week later after our talk she brought Frankie over to my house after school. I was trying to sleep,of course, but couldn't help but hear the dog in the house. I got up to see why he was there.

Eileen said, Mom,Please don't be mad at me. My mother told me to walk Frankie after school so that is why I have him after his walk, I am taking him back home to my mothers.

I said,okay,is your mother home?"

"No,she is never home. She is at work."
"Frankie,Frankie!...Frankie! Eileen yelled, as the dog ran out the front door between my daughter Amy's legs—Frankie! I heard my daughter scream—as I heard the screeching brakes of a car.

"Mom, Amy Screamed—I tried to stop him. Frankie has been hit."

My son, Matthew, went outside and carried Frankie back into the house. I saw that the dog was in pain and needed some help ,so my first thought was put him down on my bed.

I could tell his leg was broken just by looking at it. Eileen tried to pet him. He growled at her. I touched the top of his head and he looked at me and licked my other hand. I don't know what made me do it ,but I looked into that dogs eyes and I told him that I would get his leg fixed. I called an emergency vet and they told us to bring Frankie right over. Eileen was crying. I hung up the phone and tried to calm her down.

"Why are you being so nice and having his leg fixed?"

"I love you and I don't like to see you so sad. Frankie is in pain. I can help him, besides I think he likes me and I think he is pretty special too."

*****

Eileen called me from the vet to let me know that they had put a cast on Frankie's leg and that he was not to be left alone for a few days. Even before Eileen asked, I told her to bring Frankie back to our house. I could hear the smile in her voice. When Frankie and Eileen returned from the vet Frankie and I took a nap in my bed before I had to go to work.

He fell asleep with his bandaged paw on my side with his head gently touching my hand. No one can tell me God doesn't exist because I felt his love through that dog.

Frankie is awesome I am glad I was there when he needed me.
