He does his dance
People watch
Curious and tense
It’s just for show
A magic trick
I tease him a while
He thinks he likes it
I miss a note
It breaks the daze

He strikes
I dodge
He strikes again
I’m not fast enough
His bite stings
I can feel his poison
He slips away
I watch him go
The venom takes over
And the music is gone
