In Between Time |
| In the UK People said ‘Oley!’ In Africa People growled ‘Ahrrraaharraaa!’ In Antarctica People did not shout 'Hiyotica!’ For they could freeze their mouths, couldn’t they? In the morning People said ‘I’m worn out’ In the evening People used to disagree And say ‘I’m dressed up, shall we?’ In the night People were out of sight But you could hear them, as their mouths were yawning In the meantime People said ‘Oh my! It’s time for cup of coffee’ In between time It’s the coffee that would say ‘Oh my! Again those people’ While in the meanwhile The men who grew the coffee beans were loving And cared for both, their friends and beans, just equal And so the people said what they were taught And so they dressed without a thought And so the coffee kept them running On roads and seas and sky, what not And soon they noticed how late it was And said ‘Oh my! God… I wish it would stop!’ Which never happened, nor it ought For not the sayings, nor the dresses were their lot But time was all that they had got. |
