Devil Inside Me

This poem is a journey of one man's life, and how he started to turn it around.

he binds my thoughts like tangled christmas lights
spoils my win,  cheers my losses

he dares me to lose my temper when the real cure is calm
fighting my will, attacking my vices
to kill my joy, he will promise pride

i will put in order this broken shadow in my head
no longer will i be his fool of fools

when his time ends, mine begins
surely he will not hold me any longer

today i will be his spoiler
to tell my daughter i love her
visit with jesus and ask for nothing
say goodnight to the sun, and good morning to the
moon with my friend


walk a different walk to chase my burdens away
gather all that is good to me, to be in a place where I belong
forever it will be new, never to regret
and i will dine on his destruction
