An old piece of work from years ago I think it still holds up. |
The dreams of yesterday are the hopes of tomorrow The unimaginable is now commonplace The unknown has revealed itself The fears that once held you rigid Have long since departed The immortality of youth has dimmed with the passing years The speed that you tore at life with Has long slowed The endless highways of your life Is now one long road The car in which you travel Is in great need of repair The mechanics say that there is nothing they can do They insist that it’s a write off They tell you to trade it in You ignore them Your fellow travelers Zoom past you On their way to who knows where Their journey takes them along another route To a place they hope to find everything they could ever want To their own nirvana To squeeze a few more miles To travel a little bit further down the road Just a few more miles Destinations end in sight Just round the bend Not far now Another mile Just The engine has given out No more traveling for you Stranded on the highway of existence With no where to go With no way of getting there even if you did (c) 2004 |
