A poem accusing guys of being insensitive and gals of being confused too easily.
Nature does show a sense of humor
With its alarming slams on poor judgment
And its pale ghosts a-haunting
For both these nursing, neurotic sexes;
Virile, undaunted men, sensitive enough
To attract the proper women,
Withstand passion and abusive controls,
And dictate both the fraternal and obvious courses of action –
Meanwhile, proud, provocative ladies
Issue notices about the unenviable restrictions
They face at the hands of their worthy Creator,
Summoning strength from Him
Amid their confusion over love,
Relationships, and the ever-inviting matrimony
Between desire and sin.
But once in a long while,
Someone strong and self-assured meets
A selfless and generous lady;
Both can see roses at the end
Of that emotionally dark and floral garden path;
Until the ugly and unfortunate divorce proceedings
Reveal that both sides have no such
Clear and communicative understanding:
The treachery, finances, and possible other,
Significant unions loom in the shadows
Of their disagreeable, iffy lives...
