a free verse poem I wrote quickly. releasing my strive for life

I am flying away
I rather not stay
Away in my mind I go

Writing, dreaming, fighting

I long to escape to a new world
A world made of rainbows and lights
A place far from earth’s darkness

It shines in us all
Hidden under our own decay
To find it is life’s quest
Hold it and not let go

I rather dance in this rain then let my own fall
Remember, strive on
Mountains are conquered each step

I whisper a silent plea
Tomorrow is a new day
Today is just another moment

I long for distant shores,
Adventure,
Success,

Instead I drive and drive
I work
I work

When will my journey begin?
Yet I know It has

One day at a time
Breathe
Breathe

I’ll continue this search
I’ll strive on
