Letter to myself outlining my goals and resolutions for 2012.
Heads up Deb. Pay attention! I'm serious about these goals and resolutions and I will be checking back to see if you are reaching these goals.
Your very first goal is to get your priorities in order. I know you want to write and create but Emily is just 11 and she still needs Mom to be there for her. Playing American Girl dolls for an hour will not kill you and you have more time during the day than you think if you use it wisely.
Priority 1: Spend quality time with Emily and John every day. It is easy to be selfish but you have a few more years of being selfless.
Priority 2: Check into the class schedules and workshop opportunities at the University but be open to God's plan. Don't force the issue and put everything else on hold so you can do what you think your supposed to be doing. If it is where you are supposed to be, things will come together.
Priority 3: Make an honest effort to learn more about the areas of Catholicism that I find difficult to embrace and truly make a
decision through prayer to be a better Christian and Catholic. After all you have been doing this for 36 years it's about time to figure out what you really believe!
Priority 4: Search your heart and find the person Christ sees in you and become that person. Give more of yourself and accept and trust those who want to help. Don't judge others but don't compromise your beliefs. Seek God's plan and ask the Holy Spirit to help you know when it is His plan and not your personal agenda getting in the way.
You know as a mother and a Christian that God did not say it would always be easy or fun. Even though you feel like it is your turn to discover yourself and be a little selfish you have to let God be the captain of your ship and step back. Read some of your own poetry for crying out loud! Let Go and Let God! Easy to say but not always easy to live.
Well that's the jest of it and I expect results. I'll be checking up on your progress. Stay focused and pray for guidance. In your heart you know that you will have time to fulfill your true purpose. It may not be exactly what you had planned but there is a greater design than your own. Be happy and write as much as you can. Listen in the silence!! It's when you find your greatest words.
P.S. An excercise program and a little discipline in the eating department may be beneficial!!
