A Poem by S. D. Blankenship
Dirty Old Flower!

A Poem by S. D. Blankenship

Dirty, fading, un-watered, little flower I watch you

Under all that soot. Your peddles drupe and drape.

Sadness takes your lovely happy face. And I know

Tonight you shall die. Though, I watch you and

Yarn for you to come be happy yet again. The

Oval in your center has become hard and stiff.

Like the rocks chipping at your roots. Only

Draining the sap, and hap’ from your cute

Flowered smile. I water, and pull, but

Long before you’re pulled from the soil,

Over drained, non-alive, and ready to

Wither and die. Tonight the yellow has

Ever gone. In it’s place just white dead

Rakish  leaves. Dusty Old Flower.
