Without You

A poem about grief

The air has escaped my lungs
by the sudden pressure in my chest
The lump in my throat grows bigger
The thought of your absence I digest

Our hopes and dreams
will never be a reality now
Silent words will remain unsaid
I have to let you go somehow

Darkness and despair are where I abide
This void is cold and quiet
With only memories for company,
it's too loud and bright despite it.

The sun has forever set
and the storm clouds have rolled in
Releasing their vengeance on my broken heart
Will I ever see the sun again?
