Fight or Flight

Fight
Smokey charger and flashing blade
A tide of adrenaline
Rushing to greet the opponent
Thundering down the tilted yard
Eye to eye
Sighting but not seeing
Aim, blow to the armor
Froth at the horse's bit
And away on a vistory lap.

Flight
Spin left and whirl right
A confusion of color
Streaming away from the threat
Crashing across the open moor
White eyes, pricked ears
Navigating the escape
Bodies slam, heirarchies are set
The predator's step falters
And we're away on a victory run.
