| The first birthday to celebrate is Andrea who now is five. She is so sweet that bumble bees attend her thinking she’s the hive. The next birthday with lots of cake is for Tommy who now is ten. He has a brand new baseball glove and runs the bases in Dad’s den. These two events are the first day, balloons, ice cream and lots of noise. And running all around the place are lots of little girls and boys. The second day begins anew with birthday rites for Allison. At twenty she is in pre-med, we sing for her in unison. The later on we drive ‘cross town to see the bash for birthday Bob. He is four decades on the hill, but he is not a forty snob. In the evening is one more trip to see our dear friend Ida May. At eighty she has lots of vim, and we wish her a fine birthday! For three days hence we have to rest for burning both ends of our candle. Five birthdays in two days of time is just too much to handle. Lines 28 |
