The seventh part of the Hidden series.
What is this?
Kronos is gone?
A sliver of hope
crosses the man's mind -
did he win?

The area around
is a great battlefield,
barren and destroyed.
The trees are gone,
yet tranquility once
again lies over the fields of misery.

Again he allows a solemn thought
to crawl across his mind,
three words and a question mark:
"did I win?"

He stands where
he stood for over a year,
attempting to catch his breath
when he notices -
he cannot see the light!

A spike of burning hot fear
wedges in his mind -
did he lose after all?
Did The Battle against time
sow the seeds of insanity after all?

Despair begins to radiate
from the spike of fear
when a ray of cool
and soothing light
appears and starts to
grow in his peripheral sight.

He turns slowly
to face the source
of the cold light
and is rewarded
with a familiar sight.

The light is within
an arm's length.
He tries to reach
out with one arm,
but finds it
will not move.

He is paralyzed,
restrained by some
unearthly force
right in front of
his only source of life.

He thirsts for a touch,
hungers for a word,
but nothing happens.
He is locked in place
and cannot move.

The light has not reacted
to his presence
so close.
He is desperate, yet
cannot take action.
Again he is doomed
to wait, for it seems
he is not enough
alone.
