In the parking lot
we stood apart
after kissing
goodbye

Searching for words
things to say
without sounding
trite

Finally a word
choked out
a throat too tight
goodbye

He turned
and the wind blew
my hair across my
eyes

My hand raised
to pull the strands
from my face
he was gone.
