How Long

How long have we watched the world fall apart?

How long have we looked at the world in ruins
And done nothing?
The children cry out as homes are
Slowly ripped apart
And we do nothing but listen to their tears fall
Like a roaring waterfall.
What has the world come to
That we can't reach out to one another.
That we are afraid to cry out
Because of the ridicule that we know will soon come.

How long has it been
Since you really loved someone?
Since you really reached out to anyone?

There are hearts out there that are hurting
And the truth is the world doesn't care.
They don't care that beautiful people
Are losing heart
Because the world is falling apart at our fingertips
It is time we stand up
And do something amazing to change it.
