The End

A break-up poem.

And just like that it ended
In an instant a heart was broken
In an instant a life torn apart
The words flew from his mouth like knives
Cutting deep into her soul
She is appalled by his heartlessness

He continues to tell her that he no longer loves her
As tears run down her face
He turns to walk away
She stands there with a heart bruised and battered
Not knowing what to do

Her world just fell apart
And now where is she to start
With a broken heart
She moves like the undead
Just trying to get home
Hoping that the sheets will comfort her
As she sleeps away her pain

But she falls asleep to the same nightmare she would wake with
She loved him with everything she had
And he ran away with all she had left
Her dreams soon take her to a place where she is free
And she flies away into the sunset
With her wings spread wide
And a heart finally free
And she is happy once again
