Why Can’t You See Me?

Why can’t you see me,
Do I shine too bright?
Or have you been blinded,
By some other’s light?

Do you sense deception?
Yes, sometimes I’ve lied
For my own protection
With misguided pride

It’s strange you can’t see me
Or do you refuse?
I long for the aegis
Of you as my muse

Okay, you can’t see me
But guide me you may
Without even knowing
You brighten my day

So is it by choice,
Or forlorn decree?
That I hear your voice
And you cannot see me
