I have been I.N.K.E.D.
You can call me, Mari. I'm female. I turned 21 two days ago!
I'm single. I have 2 sisters (one older & one younger) and an older brother.
I'm half-Japanese and half-Filipino. I'm living in Japan now...
I found WDC by accident on Dec. 30, 2007 when I was surfing the internet for Anime/Manga websites... and I signed up the very same day (after a few minutes going around the website reading people's works and testimonials).
I found this group when I was reading some reviews on the Public Review Page which were affiliated with this group. I visited the main page for the group, read what the group was about and what it strives to do- liked it, and decided I wanted to join!
Who are your favorite authors?
I like Elizabeth Kostova because of her book called "The Historian"- the perfect mix of fantasy and historical writing.
I also like Paulo Coelho (The Valkyrie, The Pilgrimage, The Alchemist...)! Mitch Albom- three books he wrote that I've read made me cry (Tuesdays with Morrie, 5 People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day)... I love the Harry Potter books- so of course, I'm a fan of J.K. Rowling! There's also Dan Brown, Emily Giffin and many others.
What type of writing is your passion? What genres are you interested in writing? (Or reading?)
I like writing poems. I started writing when I was eleven... although, I really sucked! I like to think I've improve quite a lot since then. I enjoy writing poems that has something to do with Romance (usually heartaches), Death, and some other genre depending on what I'm feeling at the time. I LOVE TO READ anything that falls under Fantasy, Supernatural, Mystery, Action, Spiritual, Romance, Horror, Comedy... well, anything really, as long as the book's summary catches my attention.
My reading-addiction started when I was 7, and was just beginning to learn English (I grew up in the Philippines)! The first book I've ever "devoured" was my English textbook. Then, I did the same with all my Science texbooks... anything English I could get my hands on at that time- like a dictionary and the Bible (from what I remember I read up to Leviticus before giving up and finding a different material... I think? )
What do you hope most to gain by being an active member on this site? What's one thing about this site that you like so far?
I joined this website to improve my writing... that goal still hasn't change. I don't think I've improve enough, and maybe I never will think that I have, and so I will continue wanting to learn from others and yearn to improve. What I like most about WDC is there are few people who would bring you down and criticize your work without any valid or thorough explanation (I'm saying few, because there are some. Haters are always around, it can't be helped- humans are like that in nature)... I also like how I've grown as a person not only as a writer because of all the people here. I've made marvelous friends, some I've met in person and others only seen in pictures.
If you could give one piece of writing advice, what would it be?
An advice? I'm not so sure I should be giving advice to anyone... LOL Still, here's a try: "Just don't ever give up writing if you really love it. No matter what harsh things people around you may say. Even if you feel like you want to start hating your own writing- don't give up. I think it's okay to sometimes feel as if you hate your own writing- because deep inside you know you really don't, it's just frustrating knowing you can do more but it's hard to pull the ideas out. There will always be people who would like to bring you down and crush your dreams by saying things like 'You're rubbish!' or 'You should quit writing!' Well, you can't please everybody, you just have to accept that. Some people will hate your work no matter what and think you're not good enough, but there are thousands (or millions?) of others out there who may be willing to give your work a chance and WILL help you improve."
What is your favorite quote? By who?
My favorite quote(s)? Hmm, I have a lot! However, I'll specify the first one that popped inside my head (aside from MY own quote)! I like the quote "The Power of Faith, can Change even Fate!" I got this quote from a Japanese manga I read before called "Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning" (a mystery, action, sort of dark manga/anime)... My other favorite, LOL is a quote I made about Love (well, it's one of the ways I see love, that is)... "Love is the death of reason and essence of ideals."

What's your favorite color?
My favorite color is BLUE. It will always be my answer to that question, even though I also love Black, White, Gray and Brown. (I like boring... well, neutral colors because they suit me!)
If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do?
I'd probably go about my day the same way, as if nothing special's happening. Hopefully, it'll a be a Saturday or Sunday, so I could sleep in! I'll buy some chocolates and my favorite Fanta melon soda at the nearest convenience store, read some fanfiction and watch Doctor Who episodes I haven't seen yet... and if I'm going to die around midnight, I'll try to sleep an hour early. Then, I just wouldn't wake up the next day. Plain and very simple.
If one song were to describe your life, what song would it be and who sang it?
It's soooooo hard picking just ONE song out of all the songs out there. So, I just took out my mp3 player browsed my 200+ songs and choose one that seemed suitable which ISN'T a Love Song, because I don't have a love life! In the end, I chose... I'm Alive by BECCA!
If you could spend $10,000 dollars on anything you wanted, what would you do with it?
10,000 dollars if converted to yen is probably betweeen 750,000 to 800,000 yen. Well, it's not so big but I'll give it to my older sister so she can pay off the money she loaned for driving school. If there are any left overs, I'd like to visit my friends in the Philippines!
