Keeping a promise. |
| I made a promise to my better half, that I would give our old hound dog a bath. I drew the water which made lots of foam; that’s when our hound dog decided to roam. So I went after him, soap on my shirt; when I caught up, he was sprawled in the dirt. I picked him up--it was hard on my back; then I walked back with my old hound dog Mack. Mack and the bath were the stage for some wrath; someone walked by and they let go a laugh. Mack settled down like a water-logged log; I was determined to lather my dog. I washed and rinsed--he gave me those eyes; the eyes of a hound are pitiful sighs. He jumped from the tub with soaking wet paws; he slipped through my hands, wet tracking his cause. I gave our dog Mack a bath for my spouse, but he dripped water all throughout the house. I kept a promise in spite of a growl, yet now there’s another--hand me a towel. 20 Lines |
