"And we needed that push that, that ignorance would have given us..."
We Are…

We had it all,
Right in our hands,
And we didn’t lose it because we were ignorant
But we lost it
Because we couldn’t find an answer to our own rhetorical questions.
We wanted to be our own answers,
And we couldn't,
Because that would make us selfish
And selfish was the question,
The question that needed the answer
An answer that couldn't come from inside
But,
A question with so many answers that it would be selfish to choose just one.
So we were stuck,
In limbo,
In a place where lineage and skin color didn’t matter
Because everyone was blind
While we could see
And we needed that push that
That ignorance would have given us
To take the mold of their lives
And give it to those that deserved it
Because we are the kings and queens
Of something that exists greater than us
And takes our lives and makes them worth living
So we show it that we belong here
And answer selfishness
With benevolence
The benevolence of every person to ever give up something
Then,
Every benevolent person to ever be blind
For any reason
Could see
Just like us
And could take clay
And turn it into gold.
