This (decaying) lived-in home

Created initially for the "poem of the day" contest.

This lived-in home –
                    once hopeful symbol to our shared future -
                                                                decays.

This lived-in home has
for too long
decayed
  (ever so slowly;
  too slowly for me to notice at first;
  slow enough for me to self-deceive far too long!).

Do I repair this lived-in, decaying home?
Can I restore this lived-in home to my memory’s strict remembrance?
Should I try?
Should I, instead, leave this decaying lived-in home?
Leave you behind?

I think I shall try ...
                try to clear these cluttered rooms
                try to open these shuttered windows
                try to breathe new life into this lived-in, decaying home.
