I rise to go farther than you could dare

I rise to exceed the barriers place before my ancestors that proceed me

I rise to make proud those who fell before me

I rise to be strong for those that are behind me

I rise to be a beacon of light to those that don't know the way

I rise to show my self approved to those who fell in martyrdom for me to have a chance to walk unhindered & free

I rise this morning to usher my child on to a path better than mine
