Jimmy’s mother never liked his father, always calling him a good for nothin’, low down, ne-er-do-well, whatever that meant. Jimmy’s granddaddy, said she was just bitter about his leaving when he was just a babe. That was her doing though. If she hadn’t taken the axe after him, the man mighta stuck around.

Jimmy did have one memento he cherished. A photo of him and his dad, taken when grandpa thought Jimmy’s mother weren’t payin’ no mind.

“She’d have our heads if she knew.”

Jimmy loved that old photo, even if it was just the top of his daddy’s skull.
