Mark Twain

Positives after a breakup.

It would be my misfortune to stay as your beau
so I’ll get on the river and go with the flow.
And if fortune should bring us together again
I will stay on the river and simply mark twain.

But I hope that I don’t have to mark anymore
since I have no more reason to enter your door.
I will simply move on for the book is complete
and it will be just fine if the twain should not meet.

There would be no advantage in moping your loss,
thus I’ll move to the pawn shop and work with Big Hoss.
Because then there’d be twain of us for everything
as I pawn the remains of you like a class ring.

It takes twain for the tango but that dance is done
so I’ll step my way forward and soak up the fun.
There is plenty to do without you anymore
as I sail on the river away from the shore.

For it’s one for the money and twain for the show;
I’ve a much better grip now that I have let go.
On the river of life there is pleasure and pain,
and my best current course is to simply mark twain.
